PROUD TO TWIN WITH RAW SEWAGE DUMPER

Sister cities or Twinning are a form of legal or social agreement between towns, cities, counties, prefectures, provinces, regions, states, and even countries in geographically and politically distinct areas with the purpose to promote cultural and commercial ties.

It was a concept conceived in 1947 to foster post WWII friendship and understanding between different cultures and between former foes as an act of peace and reconciliation while also encouraging trade and tourism.

The town of Whitby Ontario has been twinned with Longueuil Quebec since 1968.

Longueuil is planning to dump more than 160-million litres of raw sewage into the St. Lawrence river starting mid November and continuing for 6 weeks.

This is a totally unacceptable way to accommodate any kind of repairs since it will set up precedent to continue it again in the future.

I hope that the Town of Whitby also shows it support against this sewage dump and reconsiders to what cities it wishes to be twinned and support.
